• Presentation of Andromeda during DEFEA 2021 Athens, Greece July 13th - 15th, 2021
    During July 13th – 15th, 2021 the DEFEA International Defence Exhibition took place in Athens, Greece, involved 315 exhibiting defence industries from 22 countries and visited by 45 official national delegations. Satways was honoured to present Andromeda to the Defence Minister of Greece in his joint visit to the Satways booth with the EC EDF Commissioner and the President of the Hellenic Defence Industry Association. Additionally, Satways Ltd. had the honour to welcome at its booth the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, and briefly presented to him the main Andromeda achievements.
  • ANDROMEDA Final Workshop and Demonstration Event Online June 23rd-24th, 2021
    The ANDROMEDA Final Workshop and Demonstration Event will take place online on June 23rd and 24th, 2021 and is being organised by EXUS, an ANDROMEDA project partner.

    Further to the presentation of the results achieved, the workshop also aims in initiating stimulating discussions with the Consortium partners, as well as with end-users, practitioners, and policy makers.

    The first day will start with a technical session, where the participants will have the opportunity to follow presentations on the ANDROMEDA high-level Architecture and its advancements, the enhanced CISE Data Model (e-CISE), the ANDROMEDA Command, Control and Coordination CISE-compatible systems, as well as the Advanced Data Fusion and Decision Support Services.
    Interesting insights will then be provided by key Stakeholders during the first-round table discussion, that will focus on e-CISE as a sharing model.
    Next, EU projects will take the floor to present their key results and lessons learnt. The day will close with a round table discussion on Surveillance systems and challenges, led by the coordinators of the EU projects and the end users

    The Second day of the workshop will focus on Demonstration, and overviews of all the three Andromeda trials will be presented. A round table discussion will follow with feedback from the key stakeholders and the end-users.

    The final rehearsal for the Ionian-Adriatic Maritime border trial of the Andromeda H2020 project was successfully completed today. Andromeda is ready to validate solutions to enhance border security!
  • Ionian-Adriatic Maritime border trial of the Andromeda H2020 project Online March 17th & 18th, 2021

    The Ionian-Adriatic maritime border trial of the Andromeda H2020 project, that was postponed due to weather conditions, will take place on 17-18/3/2021. Advanced C2 interoperability will be demonstrated through the enhanced CISE (e-CISE), and a Common Operational Picture for all actors.
  • Andromeda 1st Online Workshop Online September 28th & 29th, 2020
    The 1st Online Workshop of the Andromeda Horizon 2020 project took place during September 28th -29th, 2020. The Andromeda consortium is grateful to all invited speakers for their contribution.

    1st day highlights: Our invited speaker from JRC, Mr. David Berger, opened the Technical Session, introducing to the audience the CISE Data Model. Speakers from GMV, Satways, Inovaworks Command and Control and Exus followed with presentations on the Andromeda achieved results, which are very promising for the interoperability in the border security domain. The first round-table discussion highlighted the challenges and expectations from the CISE extension to the Land domain.
    The Stakeholder Session included presentations from EMSA, the Italian Navy, the French Coast Guard, the Hellenic Coast Guard, MARINHA Escola Naval, and the Montenegro Border Police. The second round Table discussion focused on the limitations faced by the end users in information exchange and maritime border surveillance.
    2nd day highlights: The Stakeholder Session continued with presentations from Frontex, the Hellenic Police, Guardia Civil, Székely Family &Co, the Ministry of Interior of North Macedonia and the Israeli National Police, who shared experiences on Land Border Surveillance. Several EU funded projects on Maritime and Land Border Surveillance presented results and lessons learnt: OCEAN2020, COMPASS2020, MARISA, REBORDER, FOLDOUT, CAMELOT, ARESIBO, EFFECTOR.
  • ICCS paper presentation at the 5th SEEDA-CECNSM 2020 Conference Online September 25th & 27th, 2020
    ICCS, an Andromeda project partner, presented their paper titled “Preliminary design of a multipurpose UAV situational awareness platform based on novel computer vision & machine learning techniques” at the 5th SEEDA-CECNSM 2020 (5th South-East Europe Design Automation, Computer Engineering, Computer Networks and Social Media Conference).

  • Andromeda 1st Workshop Online September 28th & 29th, 2020
    The ANDROMEDA project partner GMV is organizing the first Online Andromeda Workshop that will take place on September 28th and 29th, 2020. The workshop objective is to present and promote the so far achieved results and to initiate stimulating discussions with the Consortium partners, end-users, practitioners and other policy makers and stakeholders. During these two days, four sessions will be developed. Starting from the Technical session, in which some partners will explain the architecture and system components, the CISE data model, the command, control and coordination CISE-compatible systems, as well as the data fusion and decision support services. In the first Stakeholders’ session, the sharing experiences on maritime surveillance will be shown. The second and last day of the workshop, the second Stakeholders’ session devoted to land border surveillance and the EU Projects’ session will occur. In this last session, the research results and lessons learnt from EU funded project on maritime and land border surveillance will be discussed. You can register here.

  • Presentation of Andromeda Project Capabilities to the Hellenic Minister of Citizen Protection and Frontex Executive Director Evros, Greece July 22th, 2020 On Wednesday, July 22, 2020 the Minister of Citizens’ Protection, Mr. Michalis Chrisochoidis, and FRONTEX Executive Director, Mr. Fabrice Leggeri, visited the Evros area in northern Greece. During their briefing in Border Control Station of Nea Vyssa, Mr. Chrisochoidis and Mr. Leggeri were also informed of the ongoing European funded H2020 ANDROMEDA project.
    The ANDROMEDA project’s main objective is to further enhance, validate and demonstrate the Common Information Sharing Environment (CISE) by extending its scope to Land Border surveillance. Both officials were also shown one of ANDROMEDA’s Command, Control and Coordination system as well as the current installations of fixed and deployable equipment; moreover, they were apprised of the added value the said system can bring to Border surveillance and Inter-agency cooperation.
    The second trial of ANDROMEDA project’s demo phase will take place at selected jurisdiction areas of the Hellenic Police General Directorates of Orestiada and Alexandroupolis until February 2021, to test the system’s performance in actual operational settings.
  • Conference on VTMIS organised by the SAGOV project Virtual Conference June 23rd, 2020 The Andromeda project will be presented at the virtual Conference on VTMIS and maritime surveillance, organised by the SAGOV (South Adriatic Connectivity Governance) Interreg IPA CBC project (Albania, Italy and Montenegro), and hosted by the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs of Montenegro.
  • Interview given by EAMA for the online portal www.economic.bg Interview available online May 19th, 2020 A detailed interview about the Andromeda project was given for the online portal by Petar Kirov, Chief Secretary of the Executive Agency “Maritime Administration” (EAMA), Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, Information Technology & Communications. The interview covered, among others, the Andromeda objectives and relation to CISE, EAMA trials and expected results, and is available at this link in Bulgarian.   • 3rd Project Meeting Virtual Conference May 13th-14th, 2020 The 3rd Plenary Meeting of the Andromeda project took place online due to the covid-19 related travel restrictions. A very productive meeting was completed with Executive, Technical and Innovation Sessions, while 60 participants attended the User Community Session.
  • Presentation of the Andromeda project at the Steering Committee meeting of the MED OSMoSIS project Athens, Greece March 5th, 2020 The Andromeda project was presented by KEMEA at the Steering Committee meeting of the MED OSMoSIS project on March 4th in Athens.   • 2nd Plenary Meeting Almada, Portugal February 11th-12th, 2020 The 2nd meeting of the Andromeda project was hosted at the Naval Research Center of the Portuguese Navy in Alfeite, Almada during February 11th-12th, 2020. Technical, Innovation & Advisory Sessions were held, as well as interesting round table discussions on the trials.
  • EMSA Lisbon Lisbon, Portugal February 11th-12th, 2020 A jointly held workshop by the European Coast Guard Functions Forum (ECGFF) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) took place in Lisbon, Portugal on February 11th-12th, 2020. The workshop was titled "Information Sharing and Data Security in the Maritime Safety and Security Domains" and the Andromeda project was presented by Lieutenant Iordanis Naziris from the Executive Structure of the National Strategic Reference Framework, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of Greece. http://www.emsa.europa.eu/
  • Project to policy, REA Brussels, Belgium January 31st, 2020 On January 31st, 2020 MMAIP (Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of the Hellenic Republic) and KEMEA (Center of Security Studies) represented the Andromeda project at the H2020 first Secure Societies "project to policy kick off seminar" held in Brussels, Belgium. The event was organised by the European Commission (Research Executive Agency, DG Migration and Home Affairs, and DG Connect).   • Andromeda Kick-Off Meeting Athens, Greece September 17th-18th,2019 The Andromeda kick-off meeting was held in Athens, Greece on September 2019 and the project will last for 18 months. 19 partners from 9 countries will be working in Andromeda, bringing their important experience from relevant past and current research projects. The project is expected to have an important impact on the control and safety of European Borders, as well as in broadening cross national cooperation.
